Visitors to SpivO (http://www.spivo.com) from Saturday to Monday got an unsuspected surprise. SpivO.com, a growing search engine, decided to use Labor Day to start their own tradition in holiday logo storylines.

SpivO has changed their logo on several holidays over the last two years as other web sites do in an effort to a festive charm to what is usually a simple homepage. The SpivO logo was introduced in 2003 by the tech company that owned the rights to the name and used it for their video surveillance innovation and custom computer brand. When the company sold the application rights, they did not include rights to the name SpivO or the SpivO logo. In late 2004, the tech company sold the search engine project (formerly titled “O-Find”) to American Marketing Management Motivation Services, Inc., who pressured the company into allowing them to use the name and logo of SpivO.

Today, SpivO has a growing number of channels and users that visit SpivO.com on a daily basis. Saturday evening (September 2nd), visitors were not greeted with the SpivO Classifieds video commercial which has taken the place of the SpivO logo for several months, but rather a happily grilling bear and mischievous dog. The image linked to a “Labor Day” search which would give SpivO user’s access to historical information on Labor Day and the Canadian Labour Day which are both celebrated on the first Monday in September.

On Monday, SpivO visitors were entertained when scrolling over the logo. SpivO.com had uploaded the second half of the storyline which has the playful hound taking off with the bear’s hot dogs. Traffic to SpivO’s homepage increased by nearly twenty percent Saturday through Monday which was an unexpected result of the logos.

By Tuesday morning, SpivO had removed the Labor Day logo but will have a link on their home page for those who missed it. SpivO has also announced that they will probably use the dog and the bear in future storylines.
