Singles Deserve Walking Vacations Too!

Although a self-guided walk in your chosen beauty spot looks enticing it is usually arranged for a minimum of two people while organised groups, although welcoming towards the solo traveller, are mostly based on shared accommodation meaning the punitive single supplement needs to be paid by the lone walker.

According to website directory Holiday41 (Holiday For One) it’s not only the “singles” who are hit with paying a single supplement. “As we get older” says editor Yvonne Carlson, “we tend to want a bit more privacy and sharing our holiday is one thing but sharing our room is quite another! This means that when you vacation with friends, even if you want to have your own space, you very often can’t justify it because of the high ‘single supplement’ charge levied by the operator”.

The trick says Yvonne is to identify companies who specialise in catering for singles and solo’s within their vacation packages.

The Holiday41 website is entirely devoted to sourcing vacations geared towards the unattached “singles” market as well as trips specifically for the lone or solo wanderer with low or even no single supplement to be paid.

Although the site caters for all solo holidaymakers – not just walkers – the directory boasts several entries featuring trips identified as being suitable for the single traveller including a Kenya Wildlife Walk, Hiking and Wine in Italy, Coastal Trails of Menorca, Winter Walking in Romania as well as Walks in Ireland.
