Ubitech Systems Inc. has been awarded a contract by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) in Botswana to provide a host of upgrades and accessories to its data communications and information systems. This contract, worth over $2.9 million, will be implemented to site acceptance during an aggressive 8 month schedule.

Ubitech first provided its technology to DCA in 2004 with the deployment of an integrated AFTN and AIS system. It was a highly successful project for both Ubitech and DCA with the system being delivered on time and well within budget. This latest contract will provide major enhancements to the existing systems with regards to the eAIP, static AIS and flight plan databases, pilot-briefing interface, flight strip management system, and control & monitoring facility.

An additional deliverable of the contract will see Ubitech deploy its Aeronautical Billing application called Ubitech BillSys. It's a software tool designed for aviation authorities to track and invoice aircraft operators for their use of air, ground, and communications facilities. BillSys ensures the appropriate authorities are being accurately compensated for their services concerning activities such as airspace usage, landings, takeoffs, parking fees, class B communications, etc. It is expected that BillSys will provide a positive return on investment within its first full year of operation.

The delivery period of 8 months to system acceptance is ambitious but is made possible by product maturity. All of the technology Ubitech will be providing is field-tested and currently in operation in various countries around the world. The modular design of Ubitech"s technology allows it to be quickly and easily deployed into any operational environment without the need for customization. For these reasons Ubitech is confident that it will deliver the systems according to schedule.
