LUX biotechnology ltd and UVP Inc enter an agreement for distribution of LUX luminescent standards for bioimaging

September 16, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
LUX biotechnology ltd (LUX), Scotland, UK, a specialist developer of technologies based on luminescence and fluorescence has announced a new partnership with UVP, Inc. (UVP) for the distribution of Low light imaging standards (LLIS™) in North America and Europe. UVP will act as an exclusive distributor of the LLIS™ in the North American market and non-exclusive in Europe.

LLIS™ are bioimaging tools that can be used to calibrate virtually any imaging device from cameras that use 35mm film to ultra sensitive CCD cameras. LLIS™ are a part of the wider range of Glowell™ luminescent standards. This range of highly reliable and innovative standards allows simultaneous calibration of light measuring equipment and validation of experimental data. Data obtained from analytical instruments, such as luminometers and bioimaging systems, is amongst the most widely used in bioanalytical research and diagnostics. Glowell™ luminescent standards, traceable to the National Physical Laboratory – will, for the first time, make it possible to compare data accurately between instruments and between laboratories. For organisations with operations spread across a number of different sites, or even countries, the Glowell™ standards offer the potential to improve significantly the quality and comparability of their experimental data.

“Our partnership with Lux Biotechnology gives us access to world class technology solutions for quantitative life science imaging,” said Sean Gallagher, the chief technology officer of UVP. “The integration of traceable and calibrated Glowell self-illumination standards into the imaging process is a new cornerstone of modern quantitative fluorescence and luminescence based imaging generating better data with fewer replicates.”

Dr Artin Moussavi CEO, LUX biotechnology, added, “We are delighted to have signed UVP as distribution partner as we believe they will continue to lead the way in life science imaging systems. We look forward to expanding our business in this important market and to further strengthening our already close links with UVP. In the life science imaging market, Glowell standards will give customers an enormous edge, which is built around LUX and UVP’s commitment to quality and innovation."
