Three New York residents, are tapping into the potential of the Internet and MP3, by creating Dailysonic. Anni Katz, Adam Varga and Aaron Taylor-Waldman are creating a daily magazine that you can listen to on mp3 players and computers. They are creating original and engaging content, covering important news stories, playing independent and underground music for their listeners, telling stories, making people think and having fun doing all the things that mainstream radio can't get away with. Each episode of Dailysonic is 30 to 45 minutes long and is distributed for free. Dailysonic will be available as a download, or as a podcast, meaning people will be able to automatically synchronize the show with their computers and mp3 players.

"Everyone has an iPod these days, and it's so easy to distribute stuff over the Web. It'll cost us almost nothing to get off our feet, and we'll instantly have the ability to reach millions of people," said Adam Varga, who originally conceived of Dailysonic while living in the wilderness for six months.

Aaron Taylor-Waldman, a DJ and musician from Vermont, transplanted to Brooklyn, N.Y. is excited about being able to share some of the gems in his record collection.

"I've spent a lot of time digging through crates of vinyl, and it'll be nice to share these in a non-DJ setting. People will be able to hear Dailysonic anytime and anywhere; it's sort of like radio-on-demand, or I guess, DJ-on-demand," Taylor-Waldman said.

Anni Katz, who reported and co-hosted on KLCC while she was a student at The University of Oregon, is excited to expose listeners to issues that the mainstream media don't often cover.

"When I present the day's news, I want to ask questions and to make people think. Dailysonic encourages people to get informed, and to see all sides of an issue. We are striving to be as responsible and socially conscious as possible," she said.

The three are currently moonlighting this operation, and soon hope to make Dailysonic a full time job.

"Right now, we're focusing on top-notch content because good content is the most important thing for our listeners. We want people to listen to this eveyday. If listeners dig us then advertisers will dig us, and if advertisers dig us, then I'll be able to finally move out of my parent's house," Varga joked.

Dailysonic launches March 7, 2005 and can be found at Dailysonic.com.
