Too Many ‘Cheap’ Travel Deals Out There? Get Smooted Instead.

September 25, 2006, Bardonia, NY. In response to mass confusion in the travel deal space, www.familyvacationcritics.com, has launched a new concept site that posts one cheap travel deal per day. To get smooted (posted on the site), the travel deal must exceed 50% off the regularly priced rates. To take advantage of the deal, you must hit the Smoot Me button.

“This site has been developed in response the massive amount of supposed deals that exist on the Internet,” states CFO Jolienne Rutter. The consumer has no idea if the deal they are booking is really a good deal without visiting tons of sites. Search aggregators have tried to make it easier, but the results are so voluminous that it is often completely confusing. “What we have done is use our industry knowledge to post only deals that we know are drop dead cheap. In addition, we have expanded the marketplace by including ordinary people that may own a timeshare, vacation home, or want to get rid of transferable travel vouchers and such. Even travel products can be sold. The site is a combination of Travelocity.com, Woot.com and Ebay.com focused just on the travel market,” notes CFO Rutter.

Mysmoot.com only posts deals for 24 hours or until the deal is sold out. “The sites simple format makes it easy for users to check in on what is selling in only a few seconds,” explains COO Andrea Levine.

The Internet does not have a travel site that lets companies, such as airlines, cruiselines, adventure travel companies and hotels, unload extra inventory with very short term notice. “For example, a by filling out the MySmoot.com form, the company can opt to pay only $10 for 24 hour period if they have 10 extra rooms available in the next few days,” says Monica Levine-Sauberman, CEO. While some companies may be hesitant to unload their inventory, the marketplace generally understands that very last minute purchases require lots of flexibility and can be significantly cheaper.

The combination of www.familyvacationcritics.com and www.MySmoot.com work well together. Now a family traveler, or any traveler, can find a bargain travel deal and unbiased information in just seconds. “This site expands our growing base of users and our mission to make online travel purchases more transparent and faster. We all have less time to book our trips and there are a lot of unknowns when you book online, our group of sites provides real vacation deals and critic ratings that simplify this process,” notes Levine-Sauberman.
