Savory Cities Introduces Savory San Francisco, the Bay Area’s First Video Restaurant Guide

September 27, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Savory San Francisco provides detailed information including notes about the atmosphere, signature dishes, links to reviews in traditional publications such as The San Francisco Chronicle as well as well-known Bay Area bloggers and video profiles of restaurants.

The free service, started by husband and wife team Chris and Jennifer McBride, provides video profiles of restaurants and interviews with their owners and chefs. Watch Judy Rodgers (Zuni Café), Hubert Keller (Fleur de Lys), Laurence Jossel (NOPA), Michael Tusk (Quince) and other top chefs describe their unique establishments and cooking philosophies.

"The video element of Savory San Francisco's site is a very smart and helpful tool; it not only guides the diner in making an informed decision about where to dine but it also allows the chef to candidly express their thoughts and philosophy on cooking."

Savory San Francisco is the second video restaurant guide launched by the McBride’s this year. Their first online guide, Savory New York, was launched in April 2006. Savory San Francisco will grow to include listings for over 400 Bay Area restaurants before the end of 2006. Each page presents five categories of information: The Facts, Food and Drink, Atmosphere, Reviews, and Awards and Accolades. In addition to basic information like hours, price and payment options the site also includes details such as restaurant specialties, dress, number of seats and noise level.

“Like Savory New York, Savory San Francisco offers a unique alternative by providing extensive information presented on a single page, allowing a diner to make an informed and quick decision about where to eat out. We designed the Web site to be simple and very easy to use,” said co-founder Chris McBride.

The newly launched service will continue to expand over the next several months as new restaurant listings and video profiles are added.

“Our goal is to build the most comprehensive information and video database available for notable or unique San Francisco restaurants. We’re always adding new places to our site, many times on the recommendation of chefs. We’ve also enjoyed receiving e-mails with restaurant suggestions from guests visiting our site,” added co-founder Jennifer Usdan McBride.

Whether you’re searching for a romantic table for two, a private room for a business meeting or a lively place to get together with friends, Savory San Francisco makes it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.
