OutDisk FTP for Outlook simplifies sending and receving large or restricted email file attachments.

PRLEAP.COM) Moorhead, MN (PRLEAP).
It probably happens millions of times a day: an email message is returned to the sender because the file attachment was too big, of a restricted file type, or the recipient’s inbox was full and could not receive the email. Or perhaps the message arrived but your important files were quarantined by anti-virus software. Or your Outlook .pst or .ost files are now inaccessible they they’ve grown larger than Outlook’s 2 GB size limit.
Encryptomatic llc today announced the availability of OutDisk for Outlook version 1.5. OutDisk is the integrated file transfer protocol (FTP) add-in that simplifies the process of sending big email file attachments for Microsoft Outlook 2000/2002 XP/2003 users. Version 1.5 builds on the success of OutDisk, adding new user requested enhancements.
OutDisk FTP for Outlook is the perfect solution for business people who need an easy way to email files (for example: photos, powerpoint documents, videos) or files with restricted file extensions (for example .exe extensions, or any of the file extensions restricted by Outlook security).
“Many ISP’s and system administrators place restrictions on file attachment sizes or types of files that can be sent. OutDisk solves the problem by simplifying the process of file uploading via FTP, and automatically inserts a download link into an email,” said Darren S. Leno, President, Encryptomatic llc.
OutDisk can be configure to use the company’s FTP server, helping to keep company data within the company’s domain, as well as providing an audit trail in the server logs.
HOW TO USE OUTDISK
OutDisk is different from traditional FTP utilities, because it is tightly integrated with Outlook, and can be accessed from a button in an Outlook email message. To send attachments with OutDisk, the sender opens a new email message or replies to a message, and clicks on the OutDisk email toolbar. Next, the user selects the files they wish to send, then clicks the save button. When email is sent, OutDisk automatically routes the attached files to the sender’s FTP site, and inserts an http download link into the email. A simplified file manager allows the user to easily delete old files from their ftp site.
The sender may optionally compress the attachments into a standard zip file or self-extracting zip file to save space. Strong 128 bit AES encryption that is compatible with other popular zip utilities may also be applied to the files for protection.
To receive the file, the recipient clicks on the link and downloads the file through their web browser.
WHY NOT USE ONLINE FILE TRANSFER SERVICES?
Without a tool like OutDisk, users may be forced to use free or ad-supported online file services, a very unprofessional and potentially risky way to share important files. Use of such services may violate company policy, and may present a security, privacy risk, or compliance risk. Additionally, many free services require the user to input the recipient’s email address, raising concerns about spamming. Recipient’s may need to endure advertising before being allowed to download files. And using http to upload files may requires the sender to leave a browser window open for hours, potentially reducing the sender’s productivity.
HOW TO GET OUTDISK
OutDisk retails $39.99 for an individual license, with discounts for volume purchases.
