SAP ACE 2006 awards highlight maturing IT usage by Indian enterprises

(PRLEAP.COM) Mumbai, SAP India today announced the winners of SAP ACE 2006 (Awards for Customer Excellence) – the first edition of its annual awards in recognition of customer excellence. Instituted on the occasion of SAP completing a decade of operations in India, SAP ACE 2006 received 156 nominations from 85 organizations from India and Srilanka for awards in 16 categories.

Demonstrating the growing maturity of IT adoption amongst Indian enterprises, SAP ACE 2006 nominations further underlined how information technology is being effectively used by enterprises in:- a) Effective business transformation, b) Taking advantage of growth and globalization, c) Innovatively re-architecting their business models, d) Obtaining deep and actionable insights into their business and their ecosystem e) Delivering strong return on investment and return on information to their stakeholders, while achieving better operational efficiencies.

Customers of all sizes responded very enthusiastically to the “Call for Nominations” from SAP and 156 projects across 85 companies were nominated. To supplement the information submitted by customers, detailed discussion with each of the nominees followed. An expert judging panel comprising Mr. Subir Raha, Former CMD, ONGC, Mr. Prithipal Singh, Former CMD, BSNL, Mr. S.R Balasubramanian, EVP-Special Projects, ISGN & Former VP-IS, Hero Honda and Mr. Alan Sedghi, President and CEO, SAP Indian Sub-Continent, adjudged the winners after a detailed panel discussion.

“It was a tough job for us to pick the winning projects from a list of outstanding nominations,” said Mr. Alan Sedghi, president and CEO, SAP Indian sub-continent on the quality of nominations at SAP ACE 2006. “SAP is honored to receive nominations from companies of all sizes – with revenues ranging from a couple of crores to the largest companies in the Indian sub continent. This award, a first in many respects is our tribute to the deep customer partnerships that we enjoy in the Indian Sub Continent” he further added.

The winners were recognized at a glittering awards ceremony titled “Celebrating Customer Success”, held on 27th September 2006 in Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by senior management from SAP, Partners and a good representation of Customers. Mr. Leo Apotheker President, Customer Solutions and Operations and Member of the SAP AG Executive Board presented the awards. Top management including board members and senior IT personnel from across SAP’s customer base participated enthusiastically and was in attendance to receive the awards.



During his address, Mr. Leo Apotheker said “Corporate India’s adoption and leverage of SAP Solutions is becoming an industry benchmark across the region and the globe’. While addressing the gathering, Mr. Hans Peter Klaey, President and CEO, SAP Asia Pacific commented that “Among other things, the customer excellence award process reflects the maturity and deep domain expertise of SAP’s partner ecosystem in India”.

The awards are a re-affirmation of the long term commitment of SAP to the deep customer partnerships in the Indian Subcontinent. The insights gained during the evaluation process will be leveraged in creating solutions and service innovations in the future. Going forward, SAP ACE would be an annual benchmark event to celebrate customer excellence.
