New North East Art & Design Market

The Cluny Market launches this Sunday 8th October, bringing together local and visiting artists, designers and crafts people alongside sellers of vintage and retro finds.

“Where craft, design and vintage meet and get merry!”

The Cluny market is a new monthly event set up by graphic designer Josie Brookes and fashion marketing student Sarah Grant. It is increasingly hard for young graduates, artists and designers to display, sell and promote their work. Josie and Sarah have started this project to give these creative types somewhere to do just that, and also for the public to come and appreciate some of the talent the region has on offer.

Starting this Sunday the Cluny Market has already received a lot of support from the launch of its myspace site, with more stall holders and a wider variety of work to be available on November 12th and at the larger Christmas event on December 3rd.

There is going to be a wide range of talent on display this Sunday, including art from Sara of Crazyartlady.com and original drawings and prints from Newcastle based artist Louise Rea.
Paul Knox from Om-Shantiphotography.co.uk will be displaying and selling prints of his work.
There will be handmade and customised accessories along with vintage and retro goodies from REV, Girl About Town and Clutchvintage.com, alongside original, handmade, one off purses, accessories, jewellery and much more by Sparklehouse, Black Button and Eccentric Elegance. Along with PROD's screen printed original graphics on leather belts, cuffs and other accessories along with their gingerbread greetings cards. Beautifully made leather handbags and retro recreations using Karina of New Retro's quintessential English tailoring style.
Hand embroidered homewear, underwear and accessories by Laura Harrington, Sara Wray and Susie Green and welcoming the monthly guest stall to the launch of the market, from Glasgow, Jo of Stella my Star will be selling her handmade, one off charm bracelets and necklaces and introducing Clever Dick T-shirts, with their cool, clever printed t-shirts for both men and women…

The Cluny, which is located in the Ouseburn Valley which is already a popular Sunday location, for food, drinks and live music. With the support and interest The Cluny Market has already received this Sunday is set to be a big success, and a monthly art and design event not to be missed.
