With every business taking their online presence seriously, one of the biggest growth markets can be found in Internet service provisions. UKFast is the ISPA’s ‘Best Hosting Provider’ 2006 and 2005 and as a rapidly developing company it’s working through a strategy to stay three steps ahead of the curve.

Record sales in the first 3 quarters of 2006 have worked in tandem with a recruitment drive, which has seen staff at the Manchester based ISP increase by over 50% this year alone and stage 4 of the process is still to come.

Managing director, Lawrence Jones believes that getting recruitment right is critical to success. “We started this year with a solid team of 20 key players. The drive has focussed mainly on developing the technical division. In nine months, our support and network engineers have tripled.”

One of Jones’s early acquisitions is head of support Chris Andrews. Chris joined UKFast from linchpin positions with Legend Communications and previously Fasthosts Internet. His prime objective is to develop the technical team without putting a layer in front of the high quality support clients expect.

“We’ve been focussed on minimum level 3 and Infrastructure support skills,” explains Chris. “It’s great for me to have been through Lawrence’s rigorous selection process myself, which includes multiple interviews and psychometric profiling. His focus on team work and team fit is core to UKFast's success.”

UKFast is preparing to open a new data centre suite at MANOC2 to launch the beginning of stage four and will be in a position to further double its data centre engineers before the end of the year.
