Ypsilanti, Michigan-Michigan author, filmmaker, cartoonist and editor Jay Sennett has published "Self-Organizing Men" (SOM), an anthology about masculinity.

Through essays, poetry, experimental writing, print images, and cartoons, the authors in SOM “break new ground in discussions about masculinity, power, white privilege, feminism and penises," say Sennett. "At the end of this book you realize that masculinity is more than just genitalia.”

"I created this book because there were few books that discussed masculinity in any real complex way, and I needed a book that discussed gender and race and childhood and penises," continues Sennett. "So I essentially created what I needed," he concludes.

Contributors include: Eli Clare, Scott Turner Schofield, Tim’m T. West, Dr. Bobby Noble, Nick Kiddle, Eli VandenBerg, Jordy Jones, Doran George, Aren Z. Aizura, and Gaylourdes.

"Self-Organizing Men" is published by Homofactus Press, a new publisher founded in 2006 dedicated to publishing complex works about the process of gender-making through race, size, ability, and nationality, among others.

In 2007, Homofactus Press will publish "The Marrow’s Telling: Words in Motion" by Eli Clare; a collection of performance pieces by performance artist Scott Turner Schofield; and essays by Nick Kiddle.

Self-Organizing Men is available at Homofactus Press.
