Misha Segal knows romance. A veteran of the film and music industries, he has composed for over 80 feature film and television movies, some of the most romantic music known to viewing audiences anywhere. Don Juan Triumphant from Misha’s internationally acclaimed Phantom of the Opera score, is just one such testament. First time on a Ferris Wheel, from Berry Gordy/Motown’s feature cult film The Last Dragon has been featured at countless weddings. Misha recently completed work on Santa Baby for ABC Family, starring Jenny McCarthy, a score which required plenty of fun, drama, romance and sexiness.

Misha often writes for and conducts entire orchestras for his television and film scores. However, there is no mistaking the power of this man alone at a piano: He played for his mother as she battled lung cancer; she said it took her away from the everyday. Personal and written testimonials indicate his playing touches women in most intimate ways.

Why the Spanish title? Says Misha, “I am fortunate to have scored Katy Jurado’s last movie, Un Secreto de Esperanza. (She died just months after the movie wrapped.) It’s a story of a very special friendship between a young boy and an aged star escaping the spotlight. I remember watching Katy’s expression frame by frame as I composed for that film. She epitomized everything I love about Latino culture. It has so many layers, and I’ve been told this music does as well; I wish I could have played Simplemente for Katy; I think she would have loved it.”
Simplemente el Piano Romantico, a co-release of PrimaVista Records and NPG, distributed by RED (the independent arm of SONY/BMG) features original melodies as well as popular love songs and is now available in select stores nationwide.
