GM Chamber reaches businesses with new podcast

October 12, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is the largest in the UK and has teamed up with Internet service provider UKFast.Net to reach out to its 7000+ members on the web. UKFast’s Chamber View Podcast presents a series of Chamber events from an insider’s perspective delivering a valuable resource to those unable to attend.

The first in the series will be available to download by the end of this week (9-14 Oct). It covers highlights of Ed Balls MP for Normanton and economic secretary to the Treasury’s visit to Manchester. The Royal Bank of Scotland’s presentation suite was packed to the rafters with Chamber members waiting to put their questions to the government’s brightest economic mind.

Jonathan Bowers, UKFast’s communications manager, sees podcasting as the next best thing to being there. “It’s frustrating when you’re unable to attend important events and even with the best will in the world, the Chamber can only accommodate a select number of delegates. We’re thrilled to be giving more businesses the chance to benefit.”

Angie Robinson, Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Chamber, said: “The podcast is an exciting new venture for the Chamber. I’m sure members will find it an invaluable resource. When they are unable to attend an event in person the podcast will allow them to listen to what took place, thus opening up our events to a far wider audience.

“The Ed Balls debate was excellent and will make a great start to our regular podcast.”

UKFast’s Chamber View Podcast will be available to download every month. It is produced as part of a larger programme by UKFast looking at how businesses across the UK can benefit from the Internet.

You can hear the podcast from Thursday 12 October at www.ukfast.net/podcast.htm and www.chamber-link.co.uk
