Global LT, Ltd., a recognized leader in language and cultural services, has announced the availability of a new multi-phased orientation program for returning expatriates. Suzanne Smulsky, Global LT Marketing and Communications Director, states the new Expatriate Repatriation Orientation program strives to enhance expats productivity by easing the challenges of this major transition, and reduce the post-repatriation turn over rate.

According to Snejana Kitanova, Relocation Services and Cultural Training Manager for Global LT, the Repatriation Orientation is a comprehensive program that actually begins prior to the departure by the employee for the global assignment. ‘In the most ideal situation, preparation for repatriating to the home country begins the day that the employee and employer agree to the terms of the assignment. The orientation program also engages the expatriate and his/her family in the crucial six-to-eight months before home coming in an effort to begin goal setting and discuss expectations for return’, states Kitanova.

Once back in the home country, a two-day Repatriation workshop takes place to help the expatriates develop a personalized program for successful integration back into the workplace and community. Following the Workshop, Global LT’s cultural consultants conduct follow-up interviews to support and reinforce the skills and strategies developed during the Workshop.

‘For many global nomads, re-entry shock is much more significant than their adjustment to the new culture. They were expecting to be ill at ease in a foreign country, but not at all prepared to feel like a foreigner when they return home. The Global LT Repatriation Orientation Program prepares the expats for the inevitable change that they will face and helps them land a little softer upon return, says Global LT Intercultural Consultant Mary Beauregard.

The Expatriate Repatriation Orientation augments the portfolio of cultural and inter-cultural seminars provided by Global LT. For more information about this seminar, please contact Suzanne Smulsky or visit Global LT’s website at www.Global-LT.com.
