Popular online bingo company Bingo Gringo has responded to the new legislation passed by the U.S Congress earlier this month.

In a statement to the press, a Bingo Gringo spokesman has said today that the company has suspended US operations with immediate effect to keep in line with the new laws.

He explained that BingoGringo would be focusing on the U.K and European market more than ever, going ‘full steam ahead’ with the recently launched www.bingogringo.co.uk site which has already garnered a considerable following.

Www.Bingogringo.com , the company’s original Web site that targeted the American online bingo market, achieved great success in that highly competitive realm.

The new legislation, which is expected to be signed into law by President George W. Bush this week, prohibits the use of credit cards, cheques and EFTs (electronic fund transfers) for online gambling. This has caused many online gaming companies to close up shop, or at least suspend US operations to avoid getting into legal hot water.

The Bingo Gringo spokesman said that they were especially pleased with the early success of their timely launch of the European site in the light of these latest legal developments.

He added: “We do not feel the new law will have any great negative effect on business for the company thanks to our loyal European players.”
