Jody Hodgdon Joins South Shore Elder Services in Braintree as new Volunteer Coordinator

In her new position at South Shore Elder Services, Ms. Hodgdon will be responsible for recruiting, training, managing and recognizing all volunteers who are involved in the Friendly Visitor, Meals On Wheels, Money Management and Ombudsman volunteer programs. Ms. Hodgdon will also create new volunteer opportunities for students, families and groups interested in serving South Shore Elder Services.

Before joining South Shore Elder Services, Ms. Hodgdon was a Kindergarten and Preschool teacher at the Good Shepherd Academy in Duxbury, Mass. Previous to that, she was a Field Representative for Plymouth Bay Girl Scout Council, headquartered in Taunton, Mass. There, she served as a liaison between the council and eight South Shore towns and was involved in recruitment, training, retention and recognition of Girl Scout volunteers.

“I hope to become a familiar face in the 11 communities we serve while striving to promote awareness and grow our four key volunteer programs. There are many short and long term volunteer opportunities at South Shore Elder Services. Having been a volunteer, I appreciate the effort, commitment and training that goes into a strong volunteer program,” said Ms. Hodgdon.

Ms. Hodgdon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Religion from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. She is working towards a Master of Education degree in Outdoor Education at Boston University.

The proud mother of two recent college graduates (Aaron and Chloe) and a resident of Hanover, Ms. Hodgdon is involved in many town and church activities. She is a former member of the Hanover Women’s Club Jrs., and a former representative for the North River Commission.
