Best Selling Author Returns to Detroit for Conference and Book Signing

Oct. 17, 2006 Detroit, MI. – Native Detroiter and critically acclaimed author Rosalyn McMillan, sister of author and filmmaker Terry McMillan will return to Detroit on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 to speak as keynote at the 2nd Annual Writer’s Conference and Literary Awards hosted by Metro Detroit Literary Collective and partner Corporation for Artistic Development a non profit 501c3 organization.

Ms. McMillan is the author of several novels including, One Better, Knowing, The Flip Side of Sin and This Side of Eternity. She has been called an American Judith Krantz. In her book Blue Collar Blues, the characters' concerns are real ones: overtime, promotions, corporate power, out-sourcing, safety, discrimination, pay equity, job security and love. The fictionalized story, centers on the automotive plants in the Detroit area. Ms McMillan is known for weaving together dialogue and depth, giving her characters real dimension and creating a story readers can believe in.

The conference is slated to run the weekend of October 27-29, 2006. She appears on Friday evening at 7pm in the Cobo Conference Center and on Saturday when she welcomes readers and attendees with a breakfast keynote. Fans can get books signed on Saturday at the book signing which will be open to the public from 12-4p.m. She is joined at the book signing by Detroit authors, Karen White Owens, Lee Meadows, Natalie Dunbar, Lisa Freeman, Adra Young, Frances Nero, Darryl McCullough, Elreta Dodd and Angela Wynn. Other authors appearing at the book signing include Valerie Coleman, Sheila Peele Miller, Harold Turley, Nathasha Brooks Harris, and Shunda Leigh of Booking Matters Magazine.
