TeleFutura continues Success of its 'Family Hour' with Premiere of 'Alegrijes y Rebujos'

April 02, 2004 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
TeleFutura's programming strategy of airing family-targeted novelas on weekdays at 6 pm ET/ 5 pm Central has proven phenomenally successful, more than doubling the Network's audience levels across all major demographics (season to date 2003-04)*. Now TeleFutura continues to build on the strength of its 6pm "family hour," the only one on Spanish-language broadcast television, with the new "Alegrijes y Rebujos," ("Don Darvelio's Secret"), premiering Monday, April 5.

The upward ratings trend for the 6-7 pm block began with "Cómplices Al Rescate" ("Friends to the Rescue"), which debuted in September 2002, followed by "Vivan los Niños" ("Hooray for Kids") in March 2003 and "De Pocas Pocas Pulgas" ("Hardly Any Fleas") in November 2003. By first quarter 2004, TeleFutura was delivering its highest quarterly performance among Hispanic Adults 18-49 and Hispanic Women 18-49. Among these demographics, it currently ranks as the #2 broadcast network in any language at 6:30 pm among Hispanics, second only to Univision. In addition, TeleFutura attracts more key Hispanic adult demos than Telemundo's 6:30 pm ET (5:30pm Central) network newscast. *

The upcoming series "Alegrijes y Rebujos" is sure to further TeleFutura's success during its "family hour." This new Televisa production, featuring a stellar cast that includes Jacqueline Bracamontes, Luis Roberto Guzmán, Arath de la Torre, Eugenia Cauduro, Miguel De Leon and Luz Elena Gonzalez explores the timeless theme of good vs. evil in a lighthearted story full of imagination, adventure and intrigue. Ten year-year old Sofia (María Chacón) is in for an unforgettable experience when she dares to enter the "haunted mansion" in her neighborhood. Legend has it that the spirit of its owner, a wealthy eccentric named Don Darvelio (Héctor Ortega), roams the house, and only his faithful servant, Chon (Salvador Sánchez) is brave enough to continue living there. Inside the mansion, Sofia meets Alfredo (Miguel Martínez), Chon's nephew, who becomes her closest friend. Together they will discover Don Darvelio's secret: he is not really dead, but hiding from a world teeming with negative people he calls "rebujos." These greedy, selfish characters can only be stopped by "alegrijes," the name he gives to anyone who is kind, cheerful and young at heart. Sofia, Alfredo, and several of the neighborhood kids
become Don Darvelio's allies against a legion of "nasties" who make life unpleasant for everyone around them. With friendship, family values, honesty, joy and love as their weapons, the "good guys" are sure to win the battle against the "bad guys."

"Alegrijes y Rebujos" will air Monday-Friday at 6 pm ET/PT (5 pm Central/Mountain) only on TeleFutura, the fastest growing broadcast network in the U.S.
