The cover, called Laptopguard, has been created to provide cover against theft and accidental damage for a laptop valued up to £3000. Eligible items must not be more than 5 years old from date of manufacture and there is no excess as standard - accessories can also be included on the policy ensuring you don’t lose out if valuable peripherals are stolen or accidentally damaged.

Other laptop insurance policy options include ‘in vehicle’ cover and the choice of UK only, EU (including 30 days worldwide cover) and full worldwide cover. Cover starts from just £39 for a full 12 month policy.

Whilst laptop insurance might not be a new idea, Laptopguard are using the internet to speed up the insurance process, saying that a customer can be insured and have their personalised documents within 5 minutes of seeing the first page. “Our award winning sites make it incredibly quick and simple for people to take out cover. We try and de-mystify insurance and provide as much clear and concise information as possible, so that customers are able to make quick, informed decisions” says Giles Rees – Executive Director of Marketing.
