Join Ms. Bettye Jamerson and Dr. Taffy Wagner, co-hosts of the Literary Corner podcast, this Monday, October 23, 2006 as they discuss what it takes for a non-fiction author to get published and promote their book effectively.

“Non-fiction authors need to decide whether they will self-publish, solicit a traditional publishing house with their completed work, or utilize publishing on demand,” says Bettye. Dr. Wagner and Ms. Jamerson weigh out the pros and cons of each method and talk about which path they chose in their publishing journey. They also discuss the importance of doing your homework and asking the right questions before making this important decision.

“Before even writing a book, non-fiction author hopefuls need to consider who their target market will be – who their intended audience is - how they can be reached, and confirming there is a need for your book,” comments Dr. Wagner. Ms. Jamerson reflects on how challenging and overwhelming it was to think about marketing strategies and write a book at the same time. “As a writer, you are focused on the creative process and continuously revising and fine-tuning your work to create the best piece you can as an author – it can be overwhelming to think of it in terms of business and selling and what your role in marketing your book is.”

Both Jamerson and Wagner are published authors and have a wealth of experience in the publishing and promotion arena. Dr. Wagner is the author of 'Debt Dilemma' and ‘Homebuyer’s Helper’. Ms. Jamerson is the author of 'Love: The Greatest Choice of All', and 'For the Love of Beulah: Finding your Purpose in Life'.
