Black Vampires Invade Upstate New York Town

VENICE SPRINGS, NY—This small, upstate New York community used to be known as a nice place to raise children. Surrounded by picturesque nature trails, ample forests, and clean air, Venice Springs has a laid-back, friendly vibe. According to several long-time residents, all that changed when a wealthy outsider named Darius Champion bought an old mansion just outside of town and turned it into a bed and breakfast inn.

At first, the people of Venice Springs were pleased that Darius, who happens to be African-American, was contributing to the local economy by attracting tourist and travelers, people who would ordinarily pass by the town on their way to more exciting destinations. Unfortunately, the townies were in for a rude awakening once they discovered that Mr. Champion brought something much more sinister with him than good business sense.

Author Donna Monday has captured the whole, bloody tale in her new novel - The Best Black Vampire Story You’ve Ever Read.

Having come under the spell of many a good vampire tale in the past, Ms. Monday couldn’t resist writing such a juicy story involving a hunky, black vampire and the colorful characters who come through the doors of the Sleepy Trail Inn. “Vampires are fun to write about because they’re both good and bad, sexy and dangerous,” said Monday, a first-time novelist.

Of course, what’s a good vampire story without a little romance? Among the various visitors to the inn is Rochelle Prescott, a lovely woman at a crossroads in her life. When things heat up between Rochelle and Darius, she must decide if giving her heart to a vampire is worth the price of losing her humanity.

Living under the shadow of a powerful vampire isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and some of the townies decide to do something about it. Of course, they’ve got their hands full because Darius isn’t alone. His strong-willed sister, Delijah, is with him every step of the way. Both sides have a culture and way of life to protect and neither will give in without a fight.

There’s never a dull moment at the Sleepy Trail Inn. Anyone who enjoys black contemporary fiction or a good vampire tale will want to sink their teeth into this book.
