Whatcom County, Washington, October 24, 2006 – Brent Cole, founder and publisher of What’s Up!, is excited to announce that the Whatcom County music magazine’s 100th issue will roll off the presses on November 1. The popular monthly music mag profiles local, regional and national bands performing in greater Bellingham, as well as CD and show reviews, tales from the road, and more.

Started in 1998, What’s Up! primarily serves the Whatcom County music community and the local college music scene. It is distributed in downtown Bellingham and throughout Whatcom and Skagit Counties at more than 100 locations. Since its first issue, the magazine has grown to a 40-page publication with circulation of 6,000 copies. To celebrate the music mag’s milestone, the 100th issue of What’s Up! will feature 48 pages of music news, reviews and more.

“When I first started the magazine, it was a bit on the amateurish side, but as the magazine has evolved, so has our reporting, style and audience,” Cole said. “What started out as a pet project for me has turned into a way of life for me and for our readers.”

What’s Up! also holds an annual awards show in January with open voting, highlighting some of the favorite musicians and bands in the community, and sponsors a number of performances each year.

What’s Up! is owned by Cole and wife Becca Schwarz, who also publish the year-old Foothills Gazette, a community paper serving eastern Whatcom County. To find out more about What’s Up! or to read archived issues, visit www.whatsup-magazine.com.
