Pomona, CA - TagWorld.com’s Patricia Dao met up with Halifax at Bamboozle Left 06’ at the Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Field to talk about the band’s tour and the latest on what they’ve been up to.

TagWorld.com is an online publishing platform and social network. TagWorld Music is a component of the site which allows artists to expose and express themselves throughout its network of 3 million registered users.

Patricia: Hey what’s up? It’s Patricia Dao with TagWorld.com and I’m here with Halifax. Do you guys want to introduce yourselves?

Mike: Hi, my name is Mike. I’m the singer.

Tommy: My name’s Tommy, drummer.

Doug: Doug, I play bass.

Chris: Chris, I play guitar.

Adam: Adam, I play guitar also.

Patricia: Cool, so we are here at Bamboozle, at Cal Poly Pomona. So, when do you guys go on?

Tommy: We go on at 4:55 on the Epitaph stage.

Patricia: How excited are you guys to be here?

Doug: We’re pretty excited to have it on the west coast.

Patricia: Are you on a tour right now?

Adam: Uh, we just finished. We’re off for the year. We’re going write a new album and hopefully get some good tunes.

Patricia: Cool, what’s the new album going to be about?

Tommy: Not sure, we have to write it.

Mike: It’s about today.

Patricia: It’s all about today? And interviewing with me?

Mike: Yeah actually.

Tommy: We’re gonna name the album TagWorld!

Patricia: Ok, so Halifax is actually a city?

Tommy: In Nova Scotia

Patricia: What’s the city like?

Tommy: I’ve never been there. But, we’ve heard it’s great and beautiful. Seen pictures, it’s nice yeah.

Patricia: So you named your band Halifax, but you’ve never been to the city?

Tommy: That’s how we roll. It’s weird how that works, I know. Uh actually two people in the band, they’re not in the band anymore. I took one of the spaces and he took the other one, anyways, they went there for a hockey tournament. And they just, liked the name. So, I don’t really know. I wasn’t in the band. Ask Mike here.

Patricia: Was the hockey tournament inspiring?

Mike: No, I wasn’t part of it either. Chris and I were the only two in the band at the time. Those two guys went there and named the band Halifax. We kind of just got stuck with it so…and we’re too lazy to change it.

Patricia: Hey, it’s a good name

Tommy: Do you like it?

Patricia: I like it…it’s a good name. So, you guys met in what year?

Tommy: 2003 I believe?

Mike: We all met around different times but we got together around….what was it…was it 2003?

Patricia: 2003 and now you guys are on Drive-Thru Records. How’s that been for you?

Chris: Great!

Dough: Yeah, a lot of fun.

Patricia: What’s it like being signed to a label now in comparison to doing it on your own?

Chris: What do you think guys?

Doug: It’s a lot easier cause they support you and they fund things that you want to do. They market you, so it’s a lot easier than doing it yourself. Especially since we don’t have that much money to do it by ourselves.

Patricia: You guys probably all started from the beginning: what was it like starting it all and doing it all by yourself?

Chris: It was fun. I’d rather have it that way then just like jump up to a huge level. I think we all like to build things for ourselves.

Patricia: I know you guys have such a good fan base. I mean what are your fans like?

Tommy: They have as much fun as we do. So we get along great with them.

Mike: We got some really nice fans that don’t mind traveling far to see us, which is flattering, it’s nice.

Chris: Slutty too…

Patricia: Slutty?

Tommy: That’s how we keep our fans…by calling them sluts.

Chris: Look at our best friends (Party Till She’s Perfect)

Mike: Our best friends, they’re playing tomorrow at Bamboozle.

Patricia: Who?

Mike: the Party Till She’s Perfect. Yeah, they’re a really good band.

Patricia: What does it say….fuck?

Mike: It says ‘Party till she’s fucking perfect’ but it’s just ‘Party Till She’s Perfect’ and they ripped us off. We have Hali fucking fax.

Patricia: It’s ok. So, you guys are on our site right now. We’re an up and coming social network. You guys are doing fabulous on TagWorld and we have so many unsigned artists that are just trying to make it. I mean, do you have any advice for them at all?

Mike: Whenever I get asked that question, the first thing that pops into my head, is like giving up. Just don’t give up, you know, because we’ve been through some bad times you know, like in the early stages and we just kind of kept going at it no matter how hard it got. So if you really believe in yourself and you write music that you care about, just don’t give up.

Patricia: So has the internet helped you guys? And do you guys play on it a lot?

Tommy: Myspace has done a lot for us. Pure Volume and TagWorld.

Patricia: So what’s up after this? What are you guys going to do?

Tommy: We’re gonna go home and write. Our next tour is in January and it’s in Japan so, we have a long time home, to write and just kind of collect ourselves.

Patricia: What are your international fans like?

Tommy: Insane! Cause we don’t go over there that often, like overseas. So when we do they just bear us with gifts, hugs, kisses. They love us. It’s a party 24/7.

Doug: Yeah, I can’t wait to go back. I’m pretty excited!

Patricia: The Japanese girls are pretty crazy so you’ll all have fun…

Doug: Yeah! They’re pretty cute…

Chris: The guys are equally crazy.

Patricia: Cool, cool. Well, thank you for interviewing with us. I know you have to go play but do you want to say anything to the TagWorld fans out there?

Doug: Just keep checking out for new music!

Tommy: And vote for us on the MTV2! Dew Circuit Breakout:Mountain Dew. Drink it!

Patricia: So check out there page at www.TagWorld.com/Halifax Alright, bye.
