Ryan- Hey how’s it going? This is Ryan with TagWorld.com and I’m here with I Am Ghost. What’s going on guys?

I Am Ghost- Hi

Ryan- Why don’t you guys introduce yourselves, your name and what you play.

I Am Ghost:

Ryan- My name is Ryan and I play the drums for I Am Ghost.

Brian- My name is Brian and I play bass and key and I sing backup vocals.

Karyth- I’m Karyth and I play violin and I sing.

Steve- I’m Steve and I sing in I Am Ghost.

Ryan- Alright guys, so you guys just got off stage not too long ago and I noticed that you were the first ones to have a moshpit for your set…How does that feel?

I Am Ghost:Brian- It was amazing. The crowd here was just absolutely incredible that they would move around more you know for a new band, around 12:30 in the afternoon. It still felt like morning to us. We’re not used to playing this early and so it was awesome.

Ryan- Cool. So, let’s talk about the new record. You guys just came out with a new record October 10, 2006, you guys wanna talk about that?

I Am Ghost: Steve- The new album is called ‘Lover’s Requim’. It’s in stores everywhere right now on Epitaph records and for us it’s the most epic, beautiful love story we’ve ever written. And um we’re extremely, extremely proud of this album. Extremely.

Ryan- I heard that you once kind of quoted that you guys are kind of like a rock opera. Is that correct?

I Am Ghost: Steve- Epicore actually, now, we’re now our own sub-genre. So, now more hardcore punk, no more screamo, we’re epicore from now on.
Ryan- So that’s something that you came up with for the band?

I Am Ghost: Brian- Right

Ryan- So is that a mixture of two words? What’s the background on that?

I Am Ghost: Brian- Well, basically we’re tired of being labeled. We’d say we’re like hardcore, post-hardcore, emo and goth. The whole time, kids are like what the heck does that even mean. And then like the hardcore kids are like, well if you’re hardcore you don’t have like a lot of breakdowns. All the emo kids are like, you wear black. Like, so we just got tired of all that so we’re just like, well whatever. We’re just gonna make our own genres. So, we called it epicore because everything we do from our stage show from our light show to our artwork, to our Myspace page, we want it be epic. And we want it to speak, not just of the music. And to have more of the image of I Am Ghost um and you know we put core in there because we want it to be in your face. We don’t want it to be something that you can just listen to and be like, oh whatever. We want to drive people to those polar opposites and I think that’s something we definitely have done where you either love our band and you’re all about it, it’s all over the kids’ Myspace page or you know they have a blog that’s you know, that takes you like five minutes to read about how much they hate us. So you know, it’s one or the other.

Ryan- So, we’re at Bamboozle. What are some bands that you guys are looking forward to see. Or what are some bands that that you have seen that you really enjoyed?

ABOUT RYAN

I Am Ghost: Karyth- I am looking forward to seeing Brand New and Thrice and Yellow Card. And looking forward to meeting
