Pomona, CA - TagWorld.com’s Patricia Dao met up with Sugarcult at Bamboozle Left 06’ at the Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Field to talk about the band’s tour and the latest on what they’ve been up to.

TagWorld.com is an online publishing platform and social network. TagWorld Music is a component of the site which allows artists to expose and express themselves throughout its network of 3 million registered users.

Patricia: Hey what’s up? It’s Patty Dao with TagWorld.com and I am here with Sugarcult at Bamboozle Left at CalPoly, Pomona. You guys wanna introduce yourselves?

Marco: Sure, what’s up. My name’s Marco and I play guitar in Sugarcult.

Tim: Hello Patty. I’m Tim and I sing in Sugarcult.

Patricia: Very cool. Are you guys excited to be here today?

Marco: Totally excited. There’s nothing like a rain storm in Southern California.

Tim: Well you know they said rain or shine. But you know, we’re gonna shine. I don’t care if there’s a hurricane. There’s gonna be some shining. Like from this area, it’ll just be shining.

Tim: We’ll be emanating a glow from our crotches.

Patricia: They’ll be shining guys. So are you guys on tour? What’s going on with you?

Marco: Yeah, we’re out right now supporting our new record. Just came out with a new record called ‘Light’s Out’. It’s our third record. And we’re basically on tour from now on until someone tells us to stop.

Tim: We’re leaving in like two weeks to go out with huh, some really cool bands-the Pink Spiders, um Demone, Megan Dia, the Adored, ……….gosh I know I’m forgetting someone.

Marco: Ultraglow’s doing some. We just got done with some-we’re doing our tour in chapters. In the first chapter we had Hallifax, Spill Canvas, Maxine, And So They Say. And this time, we’re bringing out those bands. It’s gonna be really fun. It’s an awesome opportunity to show our fans all these exciting new bands that we discover.

Patricia: It seems like a very eclectic mix of artists that you guys are playing with?

Marco: Yeah, why not, you know. You don’t wanna see ten bands that look and all sound the same. That would be boring.

Patricia: Now this is your third album….is the next one that comes out different than the rest?

Tim: Yeah, it’s a bit different. I think it’s a bit more of everything. It’s a bit more aggressive. It’s bigger. I think it’s our best record to date so far. So we’re stoked. And the best thing about it is that it’s a lot of fun to play live. And we do this to play live.

Marco: Totally. And when we were making this record-it is our third record, it was a challenge. We didn’t want to repeat ourselves and do the same thing we already did with Start Static and Palm Trees and Power Lines, so we kept each other in check. We made sure that we took some chances. We didn’t stay in our comfort zones. I feel like when I listen to ‘Lights Out’ I get pretty stoked.

Tim: We put up a shrine everyday and channel the devil into all our guitars tones. So be careful. If you hear voices in your right ear, don’t blame me. We didn’t use a Wiedgeboard either, but that’s entirely up to you.

Marco: This record will posses you to go out and um become a sexual demon. So anyway, that’s about it.

Tim: Are you gonna watch us play Patty?

Patricia: Of course, I’m gonna watch you guys play. I remember seeing you the first time at UCSD. It was about four years ago when I used to go to school there. I was a fan since then.

Marco: Did you see us in the line at the cafeteria, trying to get food and stuff?

Patricia: Oh, you were those guys? Oh, okay.

Tim: We were kind of looking for Sandy….I would like to think of Sugarcult as one big John Travolta always looking for our Sandy by the side of the stage.

Marco: The movie he refers to is Greece, yeah.

Patricia: What’s Greece?

Marco: Other than ‘the Muppet Movie’ quite possibly the best movie you will possibly steal from your parent’s private reserve-but make sure you don’t steal any of their tapes that they’ve really hidden from you such as the one with Janine and Jenna Jamison in it,…the one with Savannah or Tracy…

Patricia: bleep, bleep, bleep

Marco: So hey, we really wanted to say that we’re really stoked to be included with TagWorld. You guys have like a million users right now?

Patricia: We have three million-times that by three.

Marco: Three million,……..by the time this gets aired it’ll probably be like 5 million. So, TagWorld, big ups to TagWorld.

Patricia: I mean we have a lot of unsigned acts on our site just looking to break, I mean do you have any advice for them?

Marco: Don’t quit your day jobs, no……..

Tim: Send us your demos. We’re always looking for young bands to take on tour.

Patricia: Really?

Tim: It’s one of those things-it’s funny when we do interviews, they go ‘who are your favorite bands?’ and I immediately kind of blank out when I have to think about other bands. I love new, young bands, so you know…

Patricia: Well you just opened the floodgates. You know you’re gonna get some calls now.

Tim: Yeah.

Marco: And he’s not afraid to give you his home phone number either.

Etc…
