Spencertown, N.Y. March 15, 2005 – Hummingbird Films, in association with HyperBole Studios is pleased to announce the release of its independent DVD, “Who the Hell is Bobby Roos?” A collaboration between interactive media pioneer, Greg Roach (X-Files, the Game; Terminator II Special Edition, the Vortex) and filmmaker John Feldman (Alligator Eyes, 1990 and Dead Funny, 1995) the DVD includes Feldman’s award winning feature “Who the Hell is Bobby Roos?” and several ground-breaking special features, including a movie trivia quiz for the DVD set-top, an interactive version of the movie with Roach’s unique SideShowTM feature, and the now legendary internet short film “The Osama bin Laden Audition Tape.”

“Who the Hell is Bobby Roos?” tells the story of a man who could be anyone but himself. Roos is a celebrity impressionist who dives so completely into the characters he impersonates that he forgets who he really is. “This raw, mesmerizing film is a tour de force for an amazing actor-impressionist” said the Seattle International Film Festival, which awarded it the New American Cinema Award in 2002. The film also won the 2003 ‘Digital Vision Award’ at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Cuenca. Variety applauded the film and called it “Fascinating… astonishing… and morbidly hilarious.”

Neither fiction nor documentary, the film bears the unique credit: “Based on the experiences of Roger Kabler who plays Bobby Roos.” The filmmakers staged unscripted improvisations on location in New York and Los Angeles and then mixed these with footage from Kabler’s archive of stand up performances and national television appearances to craft a portrait that is an unsettling mix of entertainment and hard emotional truth. For the record, Mr. Feldman is quick to point out that Roger Kabler is the stage name that Bobby Roos adopted as a young actor in NY City.

“This entire Bobby Roos endeavor has been one of experiments, of testing the limits…we pushed the limits emotionally in telling Bobby’s story; we pushed the limits technically with miniDV production…and now we’ve done the same with the DVD,” says John Feldman. Remaining true to this “new paradigm” spirit, Hummingbird Films is selling the DVD on its website and through other popular web outlets.

The DVD was authored with Apple’s DVD Studio Pro and features a set-top movie trivia game; an interactive version of the movie; a desktop toy: Bobby’s Wacky 8 ball; an interactive documentary about impressionist Roger Kabler; and four complete stand-up performances from Roos’s archive.

“The Osama bin Laden Audition Tape” features Bobby Roos impersonating Hollywood’s A-list actors as they audition to play the role of Osama bin Laden. Heralded as “one of the films to see before the election” this two and one-half minute internet video spread quickly through the internet with its popular satirical message, driving considerable traffic to Hummingbird’s website and igniting sales of the DVD.
