Oxford Journals, a division of Oxford University Press (OUP), is pleased to announce the opening of a new sales office in India. Based in Kolkata, this will be managed by Kaushik Ghosh, recently appointed Library Sales Manager for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

OUP has a strong presence in India, with offices in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and its headquarters in Delhi. The new appointment for the Journals division marks an increased commitment to providing a fast, effective sales service to customers in this emerging market.

Oxford Journals is an international publisher of scholarly journals, with over 180 publications across a broad range of subject areas, from the humanities and social sciences, to the sciences, and medicine. It reaches customers from over 190 countries worldwide, with offices based in the UK, USA, China, Japan, and now India.

Oxford Journals has built strong relationships within the Indian market for several years, working with major library consortia across India and South Asia, including INFLIBNET (Information and Library Network), and CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research). As a market where growth in investment for science and scholarly research is the second largest in the world, Oxford Journals hopes to expand on these existing relationships to ensure widespread access to its content.

“We’re delighted to have a permanent member of the team now based in India,” commented Richard Gedye, Sales Director, Oxford Journals. He continued,

“Kaushik brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked for Globe Publication Pvt Ltd for nine years, where he sold content to libraries and library consortia. Kaushik will be based in India, but will be managing sales of our print and electronic journals, digital archives, and consortia sales across South Asia.”

Kaushik can be contacted at the Oxford Journals India office from 4 November.
