New Community-driven Clothing and Apparel Social Networking Site Inspired by 2006 Elections

Missouri City, TX — Garrett Eastham, founder and CEO of http://www.GK33.com, has announced a competition to name the platypus mascot for the GK33 online community.

He said he was inspired by the 2006 elections when he set up an online election to allow members of the GK33 community to vote for a name for the new platypus mascot on Election Day.

Eastham said the members of the community-driven clothing and apparel social networking site are tired of all the politics going on throughout the nation and are excited about the light-hearted campaign on the GK33 site.

"We're so excited to have such a strong role in such a great revolution in Internet history. We want our community to truly understand that this is their brand. What better way to do that than to let the community name their own mascot," explained Eastham.

This social networking site focuses on a slightly “nerdy,” Internet savvy, and fun-loving demographic, according to Eastham. Members actively participate in the design of apparel that they can then purchase on the site. The same type of community participation that is used to cooperatively design clothing is in use to select a name for the platypus.

“GK33 strives to be the premier source of community-driven clothing and apparel. We provide a network of enthusiastic users, designers, and models that collectively participate in a community-driven creation process. Our aim is to create clothing that expresses the ideas people are passionate about rather than those of some stranger,” explained Eastham.

The innovative approach to social networking appeals to many. Members enjoy many of the features that make social networking so attractive, plus they can actively participate in the creation of fashions they can wear and enjoy.

“Our members love a good laugh, and they hate being told what to think by marketers. Our goal, therefore, is to provide the GK33 clothing brand that the community can create and develop as a whole. Whether that is through talking about cool clothing ideas, designing them, modeling them, or just wearing them loud and proud, GK33 wants to make clothing that people care about because it cares about them,” Eastham said.

The GK33 community is open to anyone who would like to join, according to Eastham.
