Flashes of the Other World by Author Julie Ann Shapiro is Book of the Month at Long Story Short
(PRLEAP.COM) Author Julie Ann Shapiro announces her book, Flashes of the Other World published by Pulp Bits and distributed by Digital Pulp Publishing is nominated as November Book of the Month in the literary magazine, Long Story Short.
Julie Ann Shapiro’s story collection has recently been reviewed by a number of journals. Void Magazine reviewer, Rachel Edelman commented, ”Shapiro’s short-short story collection offers just what the title promises: glimpses into mysterious worlds where whipped cream and graham crackers have conversations, and death is always one breath away. …Shapiro balances the dark with the fanciful, transporting her dreams into mini-realities.
Reviewer Lee Golden of TCM Reviews, discussed some of the stories in the collection, “The Vacant Tub is about a man coming to grips with the death of his son (Possibly, he murdered his son by drowning him, or perhaps the boy accidentally drowned). The boy doesn’t realize that he is dead and the man’s guilt is haunting…”
Blue Moon No Carbs is a futuristic story where everything unhealthy is outlawed. It would be extremely funny if it wasn’t so nightmarishly “realistic” and possibly a sign of things to come. ”
