The China Supply Chain Council, China’s leading professional organization, announced the winners of its 2006 China Supply Chain & Logistics Awards last Thursday night in Shanghai.

For the second year in row, the China Supply Chain Council presented its CHaINA Awards to celebrate best practices and superior achievements that are enabled by supply chain management in China.

Over 130 supply chain and logistics professionals gathered at the prestigious awards ceremony to give recognition and compliments to five outstanding winners at a prestigious gala dinner held at the Regent Shanghai on November 9.

While other awards tend to focus on service providers, the CHaINA Awards are aimed to recognize and applaud the end-users and practitioners of the supply chain profession. All nominations are made or initiated directly by “shippers” -manufacturers and retailers operating in China - and the selection process is done in a totally sponsorship-free environment.

The Best Supply Chain IT Solution was given to Manhattan Associates for its recent Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) implementation at DirectGroup China, which is part of Bertelsmann Group.

The Award for China's Supply Chain Executive of the Year went to Gerold Simbuerger, currently Deputy Head of Global Supply Chain Management of BenQ Mobile Shanghai for his years of leadership and supply chain achievements at both Siemens and BenQ Mobile.

The award for the Best 3PL Supply Chain Provider was presented to Keppel Logistics for their 11 years working relationship with Osram China Lighting, in particular in the warehousing, inventory management, domestic and regional distribution and value-added services in China.

The Award for Best Supply Chain Consulting Partner in China was awarded for the second year in a row to Accenture China for the successful implementation of Cadbury Schweppes’ International Procurement Operations (IPOs) in China.

Electrolux Group received the top Supply Chain Operational Excellence Award for its global logistics initiative program - driven by the China team - that resulted in a 20% logistics cost reduction, successful VMI operations between China and overseas factories and the rationalization of the number of logistics service providers worldwide.

The awards ceremony took place during the CHaINA Summit 2006, China’s largest supply chain event that included over 50 multiple concurrent conferences, workshops and an exhibition floor. The event was attended by 300 delegates.
