New Haven, CT – The International Academy of Visual Arts has declared Heavybag Media as winner of two Gold Awards in The 2006 W3 Awards, for its web design and interactive agency work in the Food and Beverage and the Marketing Business categories.

The company received top honors for its design and web-centric marketing efforts for its client, The New England Brewing Company. From over 2,300 entries, the brew maker’s website, www.newenglandbrewing.com, was singled out for outstanding design. Heavybag Media created a fun, abstract editorial cartoon look, and purposefully raw animation movements, while adding several applications that combine to give New England Brewing a lasting brand impression.

“We were amazed at the caliber and quality of work we received this year. Our winners continue to push the envelope of internet creativity and web design, and it is gratifying to see such great work from the smallest agencies to the biggest firms” said Linda Day, the director of the IAVA. “On behalf of the over 200 members of The IAVA, we are honored to recognize our winners as they continue to set a high standard of excellence for Web development.”

Jackie Peters, Chief Creative Officer of Heavybag Media, said, “It is great to see that our work is recognized by top-tier professionals in the visual arts and creative design industry and that our efforts are truly paying off for our client as well.”

Heavybag Media utilized the site and other online venues to market New England Brewing Company’s new product, an India Pale Ale called Sea Hag. The campaign for Sea Hag has been a huge success. According to the company, the Sea Hag brand now accounts for nearly 35% of the New England Brewing total sales.

“When we were creating the New England Brewing website and all of the elements that would go into it, we chose to focus on the fun appeal of the company’s personality. The site uses very user-friendly, fast loading elements that help to keep the site visitor engaged and entertained,” Peters said.

The second W3 Gold Award for Heavybag Media was its own. Heavybag Media earned a top prize for its own business website, www.heavybagmedia.com. The W3 Gold Award winner for Marketing Business honored Heavybag Media itself for its exceptional, professional company website.

The new W3 Awards are added to Heavybag Media’s growing list of honors, including three medals from The 2006 Advertising Club of Connecticut, Telly Awards, Freddies, Summitts, and awards from CT Vision, CT Art Directors Club, and The New York and Houston International Film Festivals.

The IAVA receives entries from all over the world for its W3 Awards. The awards are sanctioned and judged by the IAVA, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, interactive, advertising, and marketing firms. IAVA members include executives from organizations such as Alloy, BRANDWEEK, Coach, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Estee Lauder, HBO, iNDELIBLE, Monster.com, MTV, Omnicom, Polo Ralph Lauren, Refinery, Sotheby's Institute of Art, Victoria's Secret, Wired, Yahoo!, and many others.
