UniGroup Named to FORBES Magazines' Largest Private Companies List

UniGroup, Inc., the parent company of United Van Lines and other transportation-related companies, has been named to FORBES magazine’s annual ranking of the largest private companies. To qualify for the listing, the company must be headquartered in the United States and have generated $1 billion in sales in 2005. This year’s listing ranked the top 394 largest private companies and represents businesses in the retail, construction, food processing and transportation industries, among others.

Based on 2005 revenue of $2.2 billion, UniGroup, Inc. tied for the No. 157 spot on the list. Started in 1985, the Forbes Largest Private Company issue presents the definitive list of America's largest nonpublic corporations. UniGroup, Inc., founded in 1987, is owned exclusively by the agents of United Van Lines and senior management of the UniGroup companies. Based in suburban St. Louis, Mo., it operates one of the largest privately owned trucking fleets in the United States and also owns other subsidiaries that provide goods and services to professional movers.
