Fort Lauderdale, Date 2006: Equus caballus – even their binomial name sounds enchanting. Horses have been charismatic, proud inhabitants of our ever-changing planet for eons, although they've only been widely domesticated since 2000 BCE. Imagine the elation the very first rider felt as he straddled the broad, muscular back of his newly-tamed companion and raced across the plains like the wind. Lucky are those who, in our modern, technological world, still work and play with these magnificent, spell-binding animals.

Author Len Ritchey is one of those lucky ones. His motto is, “All Horses Are Noble; Truly Great Ones Change Lives.” Len raises, trains, shows, and sells quarter horses, and has more than four-hundred-thousand miles worth of experience transporting horses throughout America and parts of Canada. In his book, Travels with Horses, Len – and a few of his horse-loving friends, associates and clients who penned their personal stories, share their intimate and memorable experiences with some of these horses; and of the joys, trials and tribulations they faced along the way. Travels With Horses is a collection of uplifting, heart-warming, heart-rending stories about horses and people whose lives they touched.
