Gotablock.com Provides Building Blocks for a Local Student's Future

(PRLEAP.COM) CINCINNATI, December 5, 2006 — Michael Harness is turning stumbling blocks into building blocks for his future.

Harness, a Mt. Healthy High School graduate, is currently studying Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati. And while he looks forward to having his degree in hand and climbing the corporate ladder to be a successful CIO one day, the 25 year-old Blue Ash resident is currently faced with student loan payments the size of a decent mortgage.

"I am not one to usually follow the mainstream way of thinking - I try to do something different and creative while still having fun," Harness says.

So, instead of flipping burgers at the university cafeteria to make ends meet, he put his IT talents to the grindstone and developed www.gotablock.com, a Web site consisting of 2,000,000 blocks. Visitors to the site can purchase a 10 x 10 pixel block for $1, upload a picture of their choice and link it to the site of their choice.

"Since I’ve created this site in the beginning of November, I’ve had visitors from LA to Brisbane, Australia," Harness says excitedly.

Newport, KY resident Greg Thompson is one of those visitors. Thompson says he bought a cluster of blocks because it was an inexpensive way to network.

Numerous individuals, companies and associations concur as more than 100 blocks have already sold. Visit the site, join the Gotablock.com block party and provide a building block for a local student’s future.
