Wilmington's Businesses Giving Thanks this Holiday Season

During this time of the year millions of people will come together with friends and family to give thanks for what they have. This Thanksgiving, Scott Ogden and Lara Berkley, owners of B + O design studio, a Wilmington-based architecture and landscape design company, will have much more to celebrate.

This past May, Scott and Lara attended a Geeks In A Flash!® customer appreciation event where they were thrilled to win a door prize of $1,000 worth of IT services known as "Geekification™". However, instead of using it for their business's IT needs, they decided to donate the door prize to the Cape Fear Volunteer Center.

"B + O has had a wonderful first year in business in the friendly climate of Wilmington. We wanted to show our gratitude by sharing our good fortune, so we decided to help others through donating the services to a non-profit organization," says Scott and Lara. "Cape Fear Volunteer Center, who is devoted to coordinating volunteer services for those needing help across the Cape Fear region and beyond, was exactly what we were looking for."

"It is so wonderful to know that there are such angels out in the Wilmington community that have the best interest of New Hanover County at the forefront of their priorities like B&O and Geeks In A Flash! ®, we are so grateful," says Annie Anthony, director of Cape Fear Volunteer Center. "Helping the Center keep their technologies up-to-date so that we can bring www.1-800-volunteer.org to our area so that all the non-profit agencies can enhance their operations to be at our best when and if a disaster were to befall our area, speaks volumes about the integrity of these business owners," explains Anthony.
