December 08, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
LOS ANGELES – December 8, 2006 – CompuLaw LLC, publisher of calendar/docket software with built-in court rules databases, has received a Notice of Allowance and Fees Due from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its application number 10/201,563, “Method and Apparatus for Court Date Calculation Engine”. After an extensive process and review, the USPTO has granted a patent due to CompuLaw’s highly sophisticated and unique technology. The technology includes methods for accurately calculating dates of different legal events capable of occurring in the course of a legal proceeding. Furthermore, this patented court rules engine employs various automatic date adjustment methods to ensure accurate deadlines are consistently calculated.

This new court rules engine is an integral component of CompuLaw’s award-winning products, including the Deadlines On Demand™ (DOD) online legal calendaring service. Over the past 28 years, CompuLaw has developed the most accurate rules calculation software available; the patented engine was first made available online in late 2004.

According to the American Bar Association, calendaring and deadline related errors are the leading cause of malpractice claims against attorneys and firms. CompuLaw’s products are specifically designed to help firms reduce these risks while increasing productivity and profitability.

"Today's announcement marks a significant milestone for our Company," states Alex Manners, Vice President of Legal Rules Products for CompuLaw LLC. "This patent further cements CompuLaw's technology leadership in the legal court rules software and services marketplace. We not only offer, by a wide margin, the largest library of rules databases, we also provide the most advanced and accurate software. With our entire organization focused on calendar and rules technology, our customers know that their firms and clients are protected best by using CompuLaw's products and services."
