FireScope Announces Release of Version 1.4 of the FireScope Policy Engine

La Palma, California – December 14, 2006 – FireScope, a leading developer of IT Operations software offering a real-time view of the health and security of enterprise networks, announced today the release of version 1.4 of the FireScope IT Operations Policy Engine. Version 1.4 includes enhancements and updates to expand the capabilities of previous versions that include easier editing of policy definitions as well as an intelligent escalation feature.

FireScope’s line of IT Operations support appliances has established itself as an industry innovator by offering businesses a single view into the health and security of the entire IT infrastructure, regardless of the underlying technologies of the monitored and managed devices. This allows IT organizations to identify and react to the early symptoms of performance, availability, security and compliance issues before users are affected, thereby increasing the overall efficiency of IT services. In addition, FireScope’s business intelligence feature, a first for the industry, provides an easy to use and highly accurate instrument for IT operational planning and management.

Among the distinguishing features of FireScope’s policy engine is the ability to identify events across multiple, disparate systems and point solutions. This enables organizations to identify the early signs of issues that might not normally trigger alarms on most point solutions. Configuration of policies is performed through an easy to use web interface, updated in this feature to include usability enhancements requested by FireScope clients.

Introduced in version 1.4 is the ability to intelligently prioritize and escalate issues, based on any combination of factors. For instance, a minor event identified on a single system may be configured to only be flagged as a warning, whereas the same minor event identified on multiple systems can be set to issue notification to administrators by email, SMS or other means while simultaneously initiating automatic remediation.

“FireScope was designed from the outset to enable IT to focus on furthering the business objectives of the organization,” said Mark Lynd, President of FireScope. “With these enhancements to FireScope’s policy engine, IT professionals can more effectively realize this goal with confidence that FireScope will contact them whenever an event occurs that requires their attention.”

This update will be made available free of charge to FireScope clients with current maintenance and support contracts, and will be automatically installed on deployments configured to receive automatic updates. FireScope is also currently conducting an end of year special offering the first year of maintenance and support for free. For more information about this update, visit www.firescope.com.
