Kerr Drug Offers Flu Shots to Holiday Shoppers

Raleigh, NC- Kerr Drug, one of the nation's leading regional pharmacy chains, headquartered in Raleigh, will be providing flu shots to busy holiday shoppers at The Streets of Southpoint Mall in Durham this Friday, Saturday and Sunday near the Sears entrance inside the mall. Flu shots will be given to anyone 18 or older who wants to protect themselves from the virus.

“It’s not too late to get a flu shot, peak flu season is typically in January and February, so that’s why we are holding this event now,” says Gretchen Jenkins, PharmD and Clinical Coordinator for Kerr Drug. “While the flu season has been mild in this area so far, there have been outbreaks in the western part of the state and what’s in store the remainder of this flu season remains to be seen.”

Flu shot recipients at Southpoint will be charged $25 and those who would like to file Medicare Part B can receive the flu shot at no cost (excludes Medicare Advantange plans). The flu shots will be given on a first come, first serve basis and Kerr Drug certified pharmacists qualified to immunize will be administering the shots.

“Busy holiday shopping and traveling environments afford great opportunity for the flu virus to be spread,” says Jenkins. “We recognize that malls are great access points during the holidays and our hope is that those who would otherwise not receive a flu shot will take advantage of this convenience.”
