A New Kind of Web Directory: Have You Been Tagged?

The goal of TagSociety.com is to connect visitors with some of the best websites from around the world by viewing unique snapshots of websites and their tags (keywords). Each website is reviewed and must meet certain qualifications before being accepted. The founder of TagSociety.com came up with the idea from a concept that she developed for another website that she owns, TheBestDesigns.com. As one of the leading web design resource websites in the design industry, TheBestDesigns.com features some of the best-designed websites from around the world, and also uses tags and images to archive the websites that are featured.

"Humans are visual. We love seeing things that are fresh and new," said Angela Rohner, founder of TagSociety.com. "I want to give people a way to browse websites in the directory by viewing a snapshot of the website or brand as well as clickable tags that describe what that website is about."

Website submissions are free, but the websites that are listed can earn listing points by referring other websites to the directory. The amount of a website's listing points determines how high up it appears on the pages within the directory.

TagSociety.com's goal is to become a valuable resource by carefully reviewing the websites that are submitted and rejecting websites that could interfere with the quality of the directory. TagSociety.com has a list of reasons why a website may not be accepted. A website could be rejected for having a sloppy, dysfunctional design or for containing offensive content. Currently, only 50% of submissions are accepted.

TagSociety.com is still in its beginning stages, but is growing daily and plans to keep growing as time goes on. "I don't know how big it will get," said Rohner. "I guess we will have to wait and see."
