Olde Towne To Create New Wetlands
As Part Of Storm Water Management Plan
Local Urban Development Community Unveils Environmental Strategy
RALEIGH, N.C. – Scott McCrary, president of Carolina Communities Development Group, has announced that Olde Towne will create new wetlands in its urban development community in accordance with state and federal regulatory standards as part of its storm water management plan. Olde Towne plans will include up to 19 ponds to collect storm water runoff, as well as a contribution of more than $75,000 to the state’s environmental mitigation fund for wetland preservation along the Neuse River. Additionally, as part of the environmental strategy for Olde Towne, some 240 acres – more than a third of the community – has been set aside for open space that will be used for hiking trails and natural wooded habitats. Olde Towne is a new development with 2,400 homesites and will feature a Rick Robbins-designed 18-hole golf course, a robust retail component for shopping, professional services and entertainment.
