New Website Inspires Women

(PRLEAP.COM) AN inspirational new website is offering women the chance to follow their career dreams.

www.theresmoretolifethanshoes.com is a new online place for women who want more out of life than the normal nine to five or just want to try something new.

It offers advice and support for women looking to start their own business or for those who just want a change of direction in their lives.

The site profiles some of the UKs most inspiring women, from former Dragon’s Den panellist and Red Letters Day founder, Rachel Elnaugh to Sally-Anne Baker, who set up her own business selling kitchenware through the web.

www.theresmoretolifethanshoes.com was founded by former skincare product developer Nadia Finer and freelance television researcher Emily Cleaver, both from North London, who wanted to help women to fulfil their dreams.

Nadia, 28, said: “We’re just two normal people who wanted to know what made some women follow their dreams while we never seemed to get off our backsides. We decided to interview 100 amazing women about what they’ve achieved and we want to share their stories to inspire others.”

Emily added: “Men still start 150,000 more businesses a year than women, and many professions still have too few women at the top. We don’t think this is down to discrimination. We know so many women who have ambitions but never seem to do anything apart from talk about them. We want to change that.”

www.theresmorethanlifetoshoe.com plans to interview and profile 100 inspirational women from a host of different backgrounds from knitwear designers to jetfighter pilots.

Each week the site will feature a new interview with a woman who shares her experiences and top tips. The line up will include author Joanne Harris, DJ Annie Nightingale, dot com millionaire Martha Lane Fox and founder of the MOBO awards Kanya King.

The site is also home to a forum where visitors can talk to like-minded people and find out information about setting up a business, starting a new course or taking up a hobby.

Other features include an area for visitors to log their own success stories and online surveys.

Nadia said: “This is the time of year when people start making their New Year Resolutions. We want woman who want to follow their dreams to log on to www.theresmoretolifethanshoes.com and feel inspired to get out there and do it. We want their New Year Resolution to be to make the most out of life and to not sit on the sofa until 2008 comes around.”

www.theresmoretolifethanshoes.com next webchat is on Friday, January 19, 2006 when Mandy Haberman, inventor of The Anywayup Cup, a non-spill baby cup, will be telling visitors about her route to success.

To join in log on to www.theresmoretolifethanshoes.com.
