Philadelphia’s Playloop Records gearing up for a massive 2007
(
PRLEAP.COM) Rephlektor inkorporated is pleased to introduce you to one of the most exciting new labels on the electronic music scene – Playloop Records. You don’t even have to take our word for it. Respected Philadelphia DJs including King Britt and Josh Wink are all over this young label, as is the tech-house king himself, Carl Cox.
One of the most notable things about the label is the eclectic nature of each Playloop release. Playloop and its artists represent a wide range of genres from electronica, house, techno, deep house, progressive, electro and downtempo. Playloop CEO Justin Paul’s own "Red Shift" is a cinematic excursion into deep techy house and "There’s A Reason" (featuring Sapphirecut on vocals) sounds like a marriage between Blondie and NIN. Artists like Nigel Richards, Tattoo Detectives, Microstar, DJ Everyday and Locality each brings a unique style to the global dancefloor, while Kezner is in the business of making jaw-dropping downtempo bombs.
Playloop Records is drawing praise from DJs, producers and music fans around the world. Carl Cox recently featured Justin Paul’s "Red Shift" on his Global Sessions Radio Show and Josh Wink says he "really digs" the songs "Data Entry and "Red Shift." Playloop recording artist Tattoo Detectives have also been grabbing the attention of Carl Cox on a regular basis. Their track "Il Salto Fouri" was featured at number 3 on his top ten chart for November 2006 and “ETC.” was featured on Cox’s “Carl Cox At Space Ibiza 2006”.compilation. Germany’s Microstar is seeing some prime action too, as his "Virtual Voltage EP" has been all over Beatport’s deep house download chart. Justin Paul & DJ Everyday rounds it out with “Dark Matter” and “Cold Night” (#1 and #6 on DanceTracksDigital.com for the first week of December.)
In 2007, Playloop will release a steady flow of digital 12-inches and LPs from their talented artist roster. First quarter releases include Tattoo Detectives "The Jump Off Remixes" EP (Digital only), Tattoo Detectives full length album (digital album with bonus continuous DJ mix), Microstar full length album (CD and Digital Album) and Get Into The Loop Vol. 1 (CD and Digital Album released in April). Get Into The Loop Vol. 1 is the first in a series of quarterly Playloop Records label compilations to feature the hottest Playloop tracks in original, unmixed format. The inaugural release will feature all the Playloop tracks currently making waves around the world!

ABOUT PLAYLOOP RECORDS
“Playloop” began as a party promotion company in the early 90s when Justin Paul and Steve Waller booked King Britt, DJ Dozia and other big name DJs to play in Huntington, West Virginia near the Marshall University campus. Because West Virginia is a region of the U.S. known for coal mining and football, Playloop provided the only vehicle for entertaining and educating the crowds with some house music 101. “We were entertaining and educating students and locals to music they couldn’t hear on MTV or VH1 and they loved it! We had lines of people around the block in this college town in West Virginia which is 100s of miles away from a major city," Paul says. After a successful run as a promotion company, Playloop became an official record label in June 2006.
Playloop’s Justin Paul is much more than an artist and CEO of Playloop. He is an acclaimed director and producer whose overseen music videos for eclectic artists The Nova Dream Sequence and King Britt Presents Sylk130. The music video Justin Paul directed for King Britt and Sylk130 aired on MTV Tokyo, Much Music Canada and Austrian TV; while his video for The Nova Dream Sequence was used to demo the Motorola iTunes phone at the 2005 Winter Music Conference. Justin Paul also directed the short film Night At The Apollo for the 48 Film Festival which was featured as part of the 2005 Philadelphia Film Festival. Recently Justin Paul & Jake Young directed and created the animated music video for Justin Paul’s track “Data Entry”. You Tube video link for “Data Entry”
