Full steam ahead for Navy Contractors with 164% increase in Seaport-e Awards

(PRLEAP.COM) GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Federal market intelligence provider fedXccel is reporting a 164% increase in first quarter awards to private firms from the Navy’s Seaport-e Multi-Award Contract (MAC) vehicle.

SeaPort-e is used by the Navy to buy Engineering, Technical and Program Management support services from the private sector. There has been an increasing trend to “pre-select” teams of private firms while bidding for large multi-year federal contracts. Individual Navy activities then bid the individual task orders to the qualified teams. There are 3735 companies in the running for Seaport-e task orders as prime and sub-contractors.

923 prime contractors have been short-listed for competing on task order awards, of which 69 prime contractors were successful in winning business during Q1 2007. The top 10 contractors took over 55% of the $1 billion awarded. The winner was Virginia based AMSEC LLC with over 10%, closely followed by ARINC and DCS Corporation.

Small Businesses did well by securing over 30% of the overall awards, with nearly 4% going to HUBZone firms. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————
