Journalism student and freelance writer Todd A. Smith recently launched RegalMag.com, a free monthly online magazine dedicated to issues affecting African American men of all ages. The magazine, which will feature local and national content, tackles prevalent issues such as relationships, sports, fashion, health, finances, as well as political and social issues that are currently affecting black men.

“The goal of RegalMag.com is to be a voice for all African American men, and provide a platform to discuss important issues that are affecting the black community,” Smith says. “I decided on an online publication to reach more readers effectively. Anyone with computer access can read the magazine.”

In addition, RegalMag.com provides positive stories of African American men who have overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles on their road to success. It also includes stories of black athletes and entertainers making positive contributions to their community. “RegalMag.com is the male counterpart to well known black publications like Essence and Sister 2 Sister magazines,” Smith adds.

Smith received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Southern University in 2001, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Journalism from Texas Southern University. He has worked for various Houston community newspapers as a freelance writer.
