Tempe, Arizona January 5, 2007 – Tempe Convention and Visitors Bureau (www.tempecvb.com) is happy to announce that for the fourth year, participants in the P.F. Chang’s Rock n Roll Marathon & ½ Marathon in Arizona will race their way to the finish line in Tempe, Arizona on January 14, 2007. The race will be held over a three day holiday weekend, allowing travelers to extend their stay in Arizona and get the most out of their race experience.

The courses for the marathon and half marathon begin in downtown Phoenix, near the Arizona State Capitol, wind through Scottsdale and end in Tempe, Arizona on the campus of Arizona State University. Runners and walkers along the routes will get more than enough motivation from more than 50 bands playing live music at every mile along the courses and 40 high school cheerleading squads. To celebrate their accomplishments, participants receive free admission to the post race Headliner Concert at Tempe Town Lake featuring the Gin Blossoms.

With an average temperature of 67 degrees Fahrenheit in January, participants can expect ideal running weather in Tempe. It’s the perfect time for a trip with family or friends, with so many attractions in and around Tempe, Arizona. From hiking at South Mountain Park to the Phoenix Zoo to the Headliner Concert at Tempe Town Lake to the pedestrian-friendly Mill Avenue shopping and entertainment district, the marathon is just the start of the fun.

Last year, the P.F. Chang’s Rock n Roll Marathon & ½ Marathon in Arizona celebrated its third birthday in record fashion, welcoming more than 33,000 runners and walkers and establishing the event as the largest combined marathon and half marathon in the world.
