New York, NY January 8, 2007 — Death Calls by Caridad Pineiro, book #4 in Death Calls Vampire series, has been selected as the top fantasy book of 2006 by Catalina Magazine. Death Calls was Caridad's 13th book as well as a launch book for Harlequin's new paranormal line, Silhouette Nocturne. Caridad appeared at this year's BookExpo in Washington to promote the launch.

"I'm very excited about the wonderful reviews and interest in The Calling," says Caridad. The Calling series continues with Devotion Calls in January, followed by Desire Calls in April, a free eharlequin.com novella, and Blood Calls in May.

The Calling vampire series has received critical acclaim as well as reader support. Danger Calls, a 2005 release, was named Best Fantasy Book of 2005 by Catalina magazine. Darkness Calls, which helped launch the series in 2004 was lauded as a Top Pick! by RT BookClub and had Latina Magazine claiming "Anne Rice, move over."

In addition, 2007 marks a banner year for Caridad who will have six new releases during the year. Besides the highly successful The Calling series, Caridad will have Secret Agent Reunion in August from Silhouette Romantic Suspense, South Beach Chicas Catch Their Man to celebrate Latino Heritage Month in September and Moon Fever, a paranormal anthology from Pocket Books in October.

Many people ask Caridad how she can be prolific in so many different genres? Caridad advised, "Writing is my passion and I love to stretch the limits of what I do and keep fresh by trying different things. I'm extremely pleased that the readers have followed me from genre to genre."

What's in store for Caridad in the future? "More books, hopefully," she jokes, before adding, "But definitely more novels in The Calling series as well additional women's fiction and romantic suspense titles."

When not writing, Caridad teaches workshops on various topics related to writing and heads a writing group.
