Windows Vista Poll Time

January 08, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
With the public release of Windows Vista looming ever closer, VistaUltimate.com conducted a poll at its forum to obtain last minute opinions about Microsoft's latest operating system.

The results were polled from 100 respondents and covered 4 hot questions. Here are the results:

1. Will you move to Windows Vista when it's launched?
a) Yes, definitely - 52%
b) I'll upgrade to both Windows Vista and Office 2007 - 41%
c) No, I'm happy with Windows XP - 7%

Comments:
A thumping 93% of the respondents plan to upgrade to Windows Vista. This is not suprising since the operating system will be Microsoft's biggest release since 1995, and will feature major changes in speed, security, eye candy and multimedia support.

2. How will you upgrade?
a) Buy the full retail version - 31%
b) Buy an upgrade - 27%
c) Download a pirated copy - 20%
d) Buy a new PC/laptop and get the OEM version - 15%
e) Use you free copy from Microsoft Connect - 4 %
f) Download from MSDN or Technet - 3%

Comments:
Almost 60% of the respondents plan to buy only the operating system, i.e. no plans to upgrade their hardware. 20% plan to use pirated copies - Microsoft should examine the reasons behind their intention (e.g. price) and implement tighter anti-piracy measures.

3. Which Windows Vista edition will you install?
a) Windows Vista Ultimate - 69%
b) Windows Vista Home Premium - 18%
c) Windows Vista Business - 11%
d) Windows Vista Home Basic - 2%

Comments:
Close to 70% are aiming for Windows Vista Ultimate despite the high price. Windows Vista Ultimate is the most powerful edition, combining all the features of Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Business, and includes exclusive online services dubbed Windows Ultimate Extras.

4. If you're a beta user, are you impressed with Windows Vista so far?
a) Yes - 54%
b) No comment, I'm not a beta user - 27%
c) Maybe, if they solved all the bugs in the final release (16%)
d) No - 3%

Comments:
Beta testers are generally happy with Windows Vista as it approaches public release. However, 16% feel that there are still issues in the beta versions that require immediate attention.
