New Youth Development Resource Provides Help to Those Are Passionate About Impacting the Youth Generation
(PRLEAP.COM) Singapore – January 15, 2007 – A New Youth Development Resource site provides help to those are passionate about impacting the youth generation to become one that has promise and hope for a bright future! Youth Development Resources, found at http://www.YouthDevelopmentResources.com provides a one stop access to some of the best youth resources available.
The founders are youth workers themselves and know what it is like to spend tons of time and cash on youth resources that simply don’t cut it. They have a vision to give people working with youth all the resources they need in one place! Currently based in Singapore, they help youths through a national mentoring program that reaches out to youths from all walks of life.
Ken Sapp, co-creator of the site, with his protégé Joshua Goh, said they got the idea for the site after realizing they were spending more time searching for or developing effective youth resources than they were spending time with the youth! It was out of this frustration that they began to compile a list of the most useful resources they had discovered and to start writing down the lessons they had learned from working with youth from many different cultures around the world.
Conducting talks, training workshops, and conferences around Asia they realized that they weren’t the only ones that were frustrated with the lack of good youth resources. Many of those who were running youth organizations, who were mentoring youths, who were trying to make an impact in the lives of youths were experiencing the same frustration. If only there was some place they could go to not only learn from others working with youth, but to also share ideas and resources that had proven effective!
Because of Ken’s mentoring relationship as a veteran youth worker to his protégé Josh, they are able to approach working with youth from both sides of the issues. Since Joshua has now gone into youth work and mentoring youth himself, they understand the principles that govern continuity of programs and how these principles and foundations can be passed on to others.
When the student becomes the teacher he not only benefits from the experience of his older mentor, but he must also struggle with the realities of passing that same rich legacy on to others in a way that challenges them to develop their own unique potential and become all that they can be!
It is important to understand that the tips and resources provided are the result of more than 30 years of combined experience in working with youth. They have worked with youth not only in the United States, but from around the world. In essence, this is practical information that has proven effective and best of all can be used by those running youth programs of any size. Leaders do not have to have large youth program with a large budget to reap the benefits that these resources offer. Nor or they bound to a specific youth sub-culture or social class. These techniques work for any youth from background or situation.
The site has only been up a short time and youth workers are already flocking to the site to sign up for the first e-course on developing strong relationships with youth! With the first email, youth workers from around the world are already benefiting from the practical experience and insights offered! Don’t be left out.
