Lexington, KY — January 18, 2007— Arcana Studios releases one of the rarest variant comics in history. Artist Mark Kidwell to hand draw every variant ordered.

“I will draw as many as they print, I don’t care if it’s 50,000 copies,” boasted Mark Kidwell, artist of American Wasteland: Blood and Diesel (available from Arcana Studios 02/28/07, Diamond Order Code DEC063298). The first issue of American Wasteland: Blood and Diesel will feature an original, hand drawn variant cover offered to retailers for every 25 copies they order.

The variant begins as a white cover emblazoned with the American Wasteland Logo. From there, Kidwell will hand sketch every cover, and ship them to retailers as a special one of a kind collectible. “No two covers are alike,” said R. D. Hall, writer of the series. Hall adds, “Many variants have a print run of 1,000 or more, and all are the same image. We wanted to offer fans something special, something unique.”

Issue 2 will feature a more traditional variant by Tony Moore, current artist on Vertigo’s Exterminators, and former artist on Image’s The Walking Dead.
